Carbon Market: A tool to reach net zero and a gold mine of investment opportunities
An increasing number of companies have committed to reduce their emissions and achieve Net Zero targets by 2050. While for some companies the targets can be easy to reach, others find the path full of obstacles. In the meantime, carbon markets (both compliance and voluntary) are evolving to improve their efficiency (ex. #ParisAgreementArt6, #Fitfor55 reform, #CoreCarbonPrincipals, …) and offer a valid tool to support decarbonization. This context offers a wide range of opportunities for financial and non-financial institutions. Particularly for financial entities, who participate in carbon markets for some time, carbon certificates are recently starting to be considered as an asset to be integrated in investment portfolios, to generate profit or to hedge risk.
